Two supported interns who spent last year on a work placement at CV Life venues have secured themselves paid work with the organisation.
Joe and Naveen came to CV Life with next to no work experience last year as part of an ongoing partnership between the organisation and local educational establishment Harewood College.
The supported internship programme gives young people, those who might otherwise experience barriers into employment, valuable work experience at our venues alongside a continuing programme of further education.
While Joe was charming customers and keeping Xcel spick and span, Naveen was across town wowing everyone at Moat House with his incredible work ethic.
Once the internship reached its conclusion at the end of the academic year, the pair had impressed so much it seemed an inevitable step to add them to the permanent workforce.
Ryan Quinn, who is centre manager at Xcel, said keeping Joe on as a paid member of staff was a “no brainer”.
He said: “Joe has been working with us as a part time cleaner since his internship came to an end.
“He really is a brilliant member of the team – he loves interacting with customers, he is always smiling and positive. He truly brings out the best of the venue.
“It was a pleasure having him here as a supported intern, so when that came to an end hiring him was really a no brainer.”
Kayne Mann is Centre manager at Moat House where Naveen is based.
He said: “As soon as I met Naveen during his supported internship I knew he was a real grafter – his work ethic is simply outstanding and he made a real difference from the off.
“He can put his hand to anything and do it to a high standard, he is always polite and friendly – he’s just a great lad to have around.
“During his internship he made himself so invaluable to the team that I just had to hire him, so I was really pleased to officially add him to the staff.”
CV Life will take on new Supported Interns this year.
