Transport Museum’s Vintage Sleigh Ride tickets available now

Tickets for Coventry Transport Museum’s iconic Santa’s Vintage Sleigh Ride are on sale now.

The much-loved attraction has been thrilling the city’s children for almost seven decades. Such is its popularity, the ride sells out every year, so booking early is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

The mechanical ride sees children ‘flying to Lapland’ to visit Father Christmas, with each chid this year receiving specially made bespoke gift.

Your ticket also includes admission to the museum and access to Santa’s Workshop complete with fun festive activities.

Steve Spencer, who is venue manager at the Transport Museum, said: “We look forward to opening the sleigh ride to families all year. So much work and effort goes into making it as magical as possible, but when you see the faces of the children enjoying it you know it’s worthwhile.

“Due to its longevity, over the years it has attracted a devoted following across the West Midlands. For many parents and grandparents, it’s a real nostalgia trip – it brings back so many happy childhood memories; while for children it’s a really magical experience.

“We ask people to keep in mind that the ride sells out every year, so you will need to book and I would suggest doing so earlier rather than later.

“The Vintage Sleigh Ride is truly a key part of Coventry’s festive fabric and we’re so proud to have it here at the museum. We can’t wait to welcome families to this wonderful attraction once again.”

The ride was a fixture at the Heart of England Co-Op on Corporation Street since 1956. It was one of many dotted around the country by the organisation.

When the store closed, a BBC-led campaign was launched to save the sleigh which is how it ended up at Coventry Transport Museum. It is thought to be the last remaining ride still in use.

The Sleigh opens on Saturday, 25 November, with tickets available to purchase now. For more information visit Coventry Transport Museum’s website.
